Overview

Mages are pure ranged casters with the highest burst damage in the game. They conjure their own food and water, open portals, polymorph enemies, blink out of danger and AoE-farm with Blizzard. Cloth-squishy, but packed with control and escape tools.

Specializations

ArcaneUtility / Support

Mana, buffs and burst tools (Arcane Power, Presence of Mind); often taken partway for its talents.

FireBurst / AoE

Fireball, Pyroblast, Ignite and Combustion for huge damage and AoE farming.

FrostControl / PvP

Ice Barrier, Frost Nova, Shatter combos and mana efficiency - the king of PvP and safe leveling.

Strengths & weaknesses

  • Best AoE grinding and farming

⚠️ Weaknesses

  • Very fragile - cloth with low health
  • Mana-dependent; runs dry in long fights
  • Punished hard if a mob reaches melee
  • Competes for +damage cloth with other casters

Tips for Mages

  • Level Frost for survivability and mana efficiency; kite with Frost Nova + Blink.
  • AoE-grind (Blizzard / Arcane Explosion) once you have gear and mana.
  • Always keep conjured food/water and offer portals - you will be popular.
  • Sheep one add and nuke the other on tough pulls.
